At My Smile Dentistry, we believe that everyone deserves access to quality dental care. That’s why we’re pleased to participate in the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)—a federal initiative designed to help eligible individuals receive the dental care they need without the burden of full out-of-pocket costs.
Who Can Apply?
The CDCP is available to Canadian residents who:
- Do not have private dental insurance
- Have a household income below $90,000 per year
Please be aware: This program offers partial financial assistance—it does not cover all treatment costs and follows a different fee guide than our office.

What Services Are Included?
Based on your eligibility and oral health needs, the CDCP may help with:
- Preventive care: Dental cleanings (scaling), fluoride, sealants
- Examinations & Imaging: Routine check-ups, x-rays
- Restorative work: Fillings for cavities
- Root canal therapy
- Dentures: Full or partial removable prosthetics
- Periodontal treatments: Deep cleaning for gum conditions
- Tooth extractions and minor oral surgeries
Please keep in mind: Not all treatments are fully covered. Limitations on frequency, co-payments, and annual caps may apply.

How do I find out if I qualify for the CDCP?

Will I owe anything at my visit?
In most cases, yes. Even if you’re approved for “100% coverage,” that percentage is based on the CDCP’s fee guide, not the Ontario Dental Association (ODA) fee guide used by our clinic.
You’ll need to cover the difference at your appointment.
Important: We cannot provide refunds for procedures later deemed partially or fully ineligible.
Can I get a quote before my appointment?
Whenever possible, we will submit a pre-determination request to Sun Life, the plan administrator, before your treatment. For urgent care—such as a dental emergency—we may proceed before confirmation, and you would be responsible for any non-covered costs.
